The school mascot is a floppy, lopsided, but still very soft and cuddly stuffed toy walrus named Russell. He looks old and a little worn out because, over the years, he’s been hugged and held aloft by hundreds and hundreds of kids at Left Nostril Academy.

Russell was made in 1825 by the fine ladies of the Humperdink Knitting, Sewing and Yodeling Society (HKSYS), a group that believed a good yodel could improve the quality of a stitch. It took them three weeks to make him, and he became one of their proudest accomplishments.
He was named after the school’s famous explorer and founder, Lord Admiral Walratio Russington the 3rd.
